Lead Software Engineer

Tort Experts

Next.jsTypeScriptPythonFastAPIGCPPulumi
  • Directed a 3-engineer team through a front-end redesign that delivered a 24% increase in conversion rate.
  • Drove reprioritization of page speed over competing infrastructure work — resulting in a 70% LCP improvement (8.0s → 2.4s) and 73% reduction in Total Blocking Time.
  • Led migration of production websites serving 3M annual visitors from a legacy CDN to Vercel, reducing alert noise by 50–70%.
  • Maintained a Python FastAPI tool that cut lawsuit lander page creation from 38 min to 6 min — a 6.3× speedup.
  • Redesigned CI/CD pipeline, cutting deployment times by 70%; tripled unit and E2E test coverage with Sentry.io monitoring across the full stack.
  • Mentored and managed 2 junior engineers to their most productive sprint cycle in 2 months.

About

Vincent Shuali

I got here by following curiosity. It started with lasers — measuring molecular signals at the limits of detection — then moved through classrooms, and eventually landed me in production systems reaching millions of people. The through-line is finding elegant solutions to problems that matter to someone.

At Tort Experts I led a team that delivered measurable business impact. At CommonLit I helped build tools teachers and students depend on daily. Both felt like the same work: understand a complex system, then make it better for the humans on the other side.

I care about code that the next engineer will be glad to inherit, products that work for everyone, and teams where people feel safe enough to say what they don't know. I co-led documentation and QA overhauls at two companies — because good systems need good foundations.

Outside of work I'm usually biking around San Francisco, learning a language (fluent in English and Spanish, working on Hebrew), or facilitating community workshops. I'm drawn to work where the product's success is someone's better day.
